Clare CYPSC is guided in its work by Better Outcomes Brighter Futures, The National Policy Framework for Children and Young People 2014 – 2020. Our work is structured around the five national outcomes for children and young people as outlined in our national framework.
The County Clare Children and Young People’s Plan will endeavour to promote the six transformational goals described within Better Outcomes Brighter Futures in order to achieve the national outcomes for children and young people. Those transformational goals are:

This is the first year locker area. In first year you have two lockers – one for your bag, sports gear and another locker for your iPad. It is important to keep your iPad in the iPad locker at break and lunch time to prevent it from getting damaged in your bag.
You will get locker keys when you come to school. You have access to your locker in the morning before school, at break and at lunch times.
Students wear two different school uniforms in ColáisteMuire – The junior students wear a green jumper, white shirt and navy trousers or green & navy skirt.
The senior students wear a blue shirt, navy jumper and navy trousers/blue pinafore.
Wellbeing will become a core part of students Junior Cycle experience.
During wellbeing on the timetable, all 1st years follow the ‘Learning to Learn ‘programme. The Friends for Life programme starts after mid-term.
Personal, Social, Education and Career Guidance is available to all students throughout their time in Coláiste Muire.
Both Guidance Counsellors operate an open door policy and welcome the opportunity to engage and support students.
ColáisteMuire understands that the transition from primary to post-primary school is a time of great change and challenge.
All of our 1st years are supported and directed through this new phase of their education.
Time table shown here is a sample timetable. Every class is 40 minutes long.
You may have some double classes which are 1 hour and 20 minutes long. After each class you will be moving to another classroom.
First year classes are 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E and 1F. Classes are not streamed. Each class is mixed ability.
A lot of different events take place here including year group assemblies, rehearsals for choir, concerts, music groups and the school musical.
You will also come here to hear different presentations from visiting guest speakers.

During your time in Colaiste Muire, you will have the opportunity to participate in a lot of extracurricular activities.
These include a wide range of sporting activities such as football, soccer, camogie, athletics, volleyball, badminton, basketball, equestrian sports and golf.
The green schools committee organise events and initiatives in school to help us to reduce our carbon footprint and take greater care of our environment.
During your time in Colaiste Muire, you will have the opportunity to participate in a lot of extracurricular activities.
These include a wide range of sporting activities such as football, soccer, camogie, athletics, volleyball, badminton, basketball, equestrian sports and golf.
You may also participate in the grúpaceol, public speaking and debating competitions and many other activities.
Homework Journal- This is where you will keep a record of what you learn in class and the homework or projects you need to work on.
This is the reception desk where you can go if you need to phone home or get help and advice
iPad – You will use an iPad to access e-books and e-folios. You will also use it when producing projects and making presentations.
One Note Folder – This is an example of an e-folio where you will save your work.
This is an example of a classroom.
Each classroom has a computer for the teacher.
Technology Room- In the Technology room you will be working with lots of different materials, electronic components and mechanisms.
You will learn how to use these to design and make projects and artefacts. In class you will be working safely with a wide variety of tools and machinery
We have a Student Support Team comprising the Principal, Deputy Principals, Guidance Counsellors and SEN Co-ordinator.
Each 1st year class has a Class Director. A Year Head oversees and supports the entire 1st year cohort
In the science laboratory you will have the opportunity to conduct a range of experiments and investigations on a wide variety of topics related to Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
In the Home Economics kitchen, students are given the opportunity to develop the practical skills necessary to prepare, cook and serve a range of sweet and savoury dishes while observing key hygiene and safety guidelines.
These practical food classes foster teamwork, a sense of responsibility and cooperation whilst building confidence in the student’s practical cooking ability.
Music Room- In a music lesson you will compose on a stave or on your iPad, using GarageBand, and you will learn about FX and about recording your compositions.
You will spend time playing or singing in a group and about conducting a group.
There will be lots of listening to and learning about music of all genres including traditional Irish, popular, jazz, classical and world music.
You will go to a specialist room for some subjects. These include Science, Art, Home Economics, Music and Technology.
In Coláiste Muire we have five Science Laboratories, two Art rooms, Two Home Economics rooms, A music room and two Technology rooms.
The Guidance Counsellors work with L.Cert Peer Helpers to provide ongoing support to 1st year students during term 1.
If you look out from the GP area you will see the sportshall.
This is where you will have PE class and also play games including basketball, badminton and volleyball.
This is the sign out desk where you bring your note and sign out when you have an appointment.
The Principal’s office is across the hall from the sign out desk.
